Lucknow: The Railway Ramlila Dussehra Committee and Bharat Milap Shobha Yatra in Alambagh staged the dramatic episodes of Lanka Dahan, Vibhishan’s surrender and Angad’s dialogue with Ravana, bringing key moments from the Ramayana to life before the audience.
The performance depicted Meghnath capturing Hanuman with the Brahmastra and taking him to Ravana’s court. A spirited exchange followed between Hanuman and Ravana, with both engaging in a debate. Angered by Hanuman’s defiance, Ravana ordered his soldiers to set Hanuman’s tail on fire, ignoring the latter’s warning. Hanuman subsequently used the flames to set Lanka ablaze, creating a spectacular sequence on stage. The Lanka Dahan scene was accompanied by grand fireworks, adding to the visual impact of the performance.

The episode also portrayed Hanuman meeting Shani Dev, who had been imprisoned by Ravana.
In another significant sequence, Ravana’s brother Vibhishan abandoned him and joined Lord Ram’s army. Meanwhile, Lord Ram gave Ravana another opportunity to release Sita and avert war by sending Angad as an emissary to his court. However, Ravana refused to relent, setting the stage for the impending battle.

Satyam Yadav played Lord Ram, Harshit Sonkar portrayed Lakshman, Ayush appeared as Sita, and Manoj Srivastava played Hanuman. Virendra Sharma essayed Ravana, Manas Pathak portrayed Meghnath, Jagjit Singh played Vibhishan, and Shivam Yadav appeared as Angad.
The staging combined devotional storytelling, dramatic dialogue and elaborate visual effects, drawing spectators into the epic’s unfolding conflict between righteousness and arrogance.
